Knowing that Janneman would only be staying in Trinidad for a couple of days, we decided to hire a car and venture beyond Chaguaramas. On the first day we headed to the North coast of the island to visit Las Cuevas beach along a beautiful pass through the jungle covered mountain. After a refreshing swim we headed back to the Port of Spain to the legendary Smokey and Bunty's Pub for an ice cold beer and some traditional Indian snacks.
The following day we headed to the far, more rural North Eastern Coast of the island where the boys hoped to find a wave. Having driven for two hours we became slightly concerned about our petrol situation as each village became less and less significant but eventually found a station. Finding a restaurant for lunch resulted in less success and we eventually ended up eating chips on a roll - a real old surfing mission. We found a nice beach where the boys had fun trying to catch some dismal waves after which we started the long trip back to Chaguaramas.
Sadly Janneman caught a flight the following morning to join Robyn in New York. It was awesome having the two of them with us and we hope to do it all again sometime in the future. Thanks for everything guys and have a safe trip home. We can't wait for that catch up session when we get back home...
