DANIEL WILHELM BOTHA
The notion of exploring the world by sailboat came about somewhere during my teens. Crossing the Atlantic at the age of 19 followed by a brief introduction to boatbuilding fuelled this idea. I returned from a stint in the UK motivated to get in line and get on with my studies. Along came Viv, I had found someone to share my night watches with. Racing over weekends, internships and trips up the South African east coast kept the vision alive. The opportunity to go off sailing with friends presented itself as I was graduating in engineering, bringing me to a crossroads: get serious or live the dream? I decided to go and explore - to be open to possibilities and ideas, to take a risk and pursue my dream.

I was born in Brazil and have lived in South Africa since the age of four. The exposure to different places and cultures while growing up has given me a yearning to see and learn more about our planet and its people. This journey is about taking a pause to discover the world in slow motion, to see the untouched and the broken. To live freely and simply, while having the time of my life with my best friend.
